Etymologie
Longus (= lang); ceps (= Kopf), bezieht sich auf den länglichen Kopf, der fast doppelt so lang ist wie sein Schwanz. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Cocos-Keeling-Inseln und Indonesien östlich bis Mikronesien, Linieninseln, Tuamotu-Archipel, nördlich bis Ryukyu-Inseln, südlich bis Nordaustralien und Neukaledonien.
