Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Henry Wheatland (1812-1893), Präsident des Essex Institute (Salem, Massachusetts, USA, das die Beschreibung veröffentlichte), für sein "freundliches Interesse und Sympathie für Ichthyologie und Ichthyologen". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
