Etymologie
Benannt nach dem Geographen und Entdecker Sven Hedin (1865-1952), der eine Expedition nach China leitete, bei der in den Jahren 1927-28 Exemplare von Hedinichthys yarkandensis gesammelt wurden; ichthys (= Fisch). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
