Benannt zu Ehren des Paläontologen Orestes Saint John (1841-1921), Mitglied der Thayer-Expedition, der Typusexemplare sammelte (der Name wurde von Louis Agassiz, dem Leiter der Expedition, vergeben). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
