Etymologie
Zona (= (lat.) Gürtel oder Hüftgürtel); oura (= (gr.) Schwanz), bezieht sich auf 8-10 weiße Ringe am Schwanz hinter dem Rücken. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project). Nach ECoF ist der Artname zonurus ein Substantiv in Apposition.
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Indien und Andamanen östlich bis zu den Philippinen, nördlich bis Taiwan.
