Typusfundort: Río Cisne Becken, Laguna del Sauce, 34°50.328'S, 55°06.869'W (Karte), Department Maldonado, Uruguay.
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Omar Macadar und Omar Trujillo-Cenoz, beides Pioniere in der anatomischen und physiologischen Untersuchung der Elektrogenese in Gymnotus. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Küsten- und Binnenflüsse in Uruguay und Argentinien.
