Typusfundort: Quebrada Dos y medio, ein kleiner terra firme-Bach etwa 2 Kilometer nordwestlich der Stadt Breu, am Fluss Alto Yuruá, 9°31.155'S, 72°45.755'W (Karte), Department Ucayali, Peru, Höhe 271 Meter ü.N.N.
Etymologie
Von der gebräuchlichen Bezeichnung für Gymnotus in der Sprache der Asheninka-Ureinwohner (Arawak / Maipurean Sprachfamilie).
Verbreitung
Die Typusserie von Gymnotus chaviro ist aus dem oberen Yuruá-Becken, Department Ucayali, Peru und den Manu- und Tampobata-Flüssen des Madre de Dios-Becken, Departement Madre de Dios, Peru, bekannt.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 22.04.2018: LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Derzeit sind keine besonderen, diese Art bedrohenden Gefahren bekannt.
