Etymologie
Prion (= (gr.) Säge); odon (= (gr.) Zahn), bezieht sich darauf, dass einige vordere Oberkieferzähne gezähnt sind (spätere Berichte zeigen, dass alle Zähne glatt sind). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westpazifik: südliches Japan bis zum Südchinesischen Meer, Australien und Neuseeland.
