Etymologie
Piger (= sich langsam bewegen).
Verbreitung
Mittelmmer: endemisch in der Adria und damit der einzige rein marine endemische Fisch, der für dieses Becken bekannt ist. Die südlichste Aufzeichnung stammt aus Vlorë (Albanien) und wurde (bisher) nicht auf Korfu gefunden.
