Latisierung von paganelli, dem venezianischen Namen für diese Grundel nach Rondelet (1554). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Mittelmeer; Marmarameer; Schwarzes Meer; südliche Nordsee; östlicher Atlantik: Schottland südlich bis Senegal, einschließlich Azoren, Madeira und Kanarische Inseln; Rotes Meer (Einwanderer aus dem Mittelmeer).
