Etymologie

Olor (= Schwan; Zugehörigkeit zu einem Schwan), bezogen auf den Swan River, Westaustralien, der Typuslokalität. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Endemisch im Südwesten Australiens, vom Murchison River in Westaustralien bis zur Region Golf St. Vincent in Südaustralien, einschließlich Adelaide und Kangaroo Island. Hybride Individuen, an denen diese Art mit Pseudogobius eos beteiligt ist, kommen im Südosten Südaustraliens (östlich und einschließlich der Mündung des Murray River und der Seen), im Südwesten von Victoria (Gebiet des Glenelg River) und im Nordwesten Tasmaniens vor.
