Etymologie
Canalis (= Kanal oder Rinne), bezieht sich auf die "einzigartige Verlängerung des präoperculären Kanals von der unteren POP-Pore dorsal bis zur Einmündung in den lateralen Schädelkanal". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Nordwestlicher Indischer Ozean: Persischer Golf und Oman östlich bis Westindien.
