Etymologie
Sagittula (= Verkleinerungsform von sagitta = Pfeil), wahrscheinlich in Anlehnung an den schlanken, spitz zulaufenden Körper mit länglicher Schwanzflosse. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Östlicher Pazifik: San Diego Bay, Südkalifornien (USA) südlich bis Guayaquil, Ecuador, einschließlich des Golfs von Kalifornien (Mexiko).
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 9.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt. Allerdings bedrohen die Zerstörung der Mangroven und die Entwicklung der Küstengebiete, einschließlich der Garnelen-Aquakultur, ihren Lebensraum in ihrem gesamten Verbreitungsgebiet.
