Etymologie
Carpio (= lateinisch für Karpfen), vermutlich abgeleitet von Carpione, seinem lokalen Namen in Italien (wo die Art heimisch ist), der mindestens auf den Schriftsteller Salvian von Marseille (oder Salvianus) aus dem 5. Jahrhundert zurück geht. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Italien: Gardasee; Versuche sie in anderen Seen in Norditalien, Deutschland und Neuseeland einzubürgern scheiterten.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 18.07.2021: CR Critically Endangered (vom Aussterben bedroht)
Gefahren für diese Art: Überfischung, Zerstörung von Lebensräumen und Wasserverschmutzung (frühere Bedrohungen). Eingeführte Arten (Coregonus spp).
