Etymologie
Labrax (= antikes griechisches Äquivalent des modernen griechischen Lavraki), beide bedeuten Wolfsbarsch, sein lokaler Name auf der Halbinsel Krim. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Eurasien: Flüsse die zum Schwarzen Meer führen, Schwarzes Meer und angrenzende Wasserscheiden; Lipkovska Bach in Mazedonien; in Tigris-Euphrat-Wasserscheiden eingeführt.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 24.07.2021:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Der anadrome Ökotyp ist in Europa sehr selten. Aufgrund des Stauens können die meisten zurückkehrenden Erwachsenen die Laichplätze nicht erreichen. Die residente Population ist von den Dämmen weniger betroffen.
