Benannt zu Ehren von Arnaud Bertrand, Senior Researcher am Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (Frankreich), für sein "Engagement, seinen Enthusiasmus und seine Führungsqualitäten" bei der Durchführung der ABRACOS-Expeditionen (Acoustics along the Brazilian Coast) und vieler anderer meeresbiologischer Projekte.
