Etymologie
Fasciolatus (= gebändert), „jede Schuppenreihe an Körper und Schwanz hat ihre vordere Hälfte blass gelblich-braun, so dass zahlreiche Bänder gebildet werden, die etwas breiter als die dazwischenliegende Grundfarbe sind“. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
West-, Mittel- und Südpazifik: Neuirland (Papua-Neuguinea), Korallensee, Neukaledonien, Lord-Howe-Insel, Norfolkinsel und Kermadec-Inseln östlich bis Hawaii-Inseln und Osterinsel, nördlich bis südliches Japan, Ryukyu-Inseln und Wake-Atoll, südlich nach Tonga und Rapa.
