Typusfundort: in der Nähe der Tanega-Shima-Insel, Osumi-Inseln, Kagoshima, Japan (im örtlichen Supermarkt erworben).
Etymologie
Bezieht sich auf den Lebensraum der Art (die hauptsächlich in Inselregionen vorkommt).
Verbreitung
Westlicher Pazifik und Timormeer: untersuchte Belegexemplare wurden aus Südjapan (Osumi, Tokara, Amami und Ogasawara), Indonesien und Mikronesien (Carolinen und Marshall) gesammelt. Zu den bestätigten Literaturaufzeichnungen, die für diese Art gelten, gehören das Südchinesische Meer, das Timormeer (Scott Riff, Westaustralien) und Neukaledonien.
