Typusfundort: Ibahos Island, western side, north end, Batanes Province, Philippines, 20°20'10"N, 121°49'10"E, (Karte), 2-5 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Similis (= ähnlich), bezieht sich auf die Färbung und die allgemeinen Lebensgewohnheiten, die dem weit verbreiteten Enneapterygius hemimelas "sehr ähnlich" sind. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westpazifik: Malaysia, Indonesien, Philippinen, Australien, Vanuatu und Neukaledonien.
