Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Peter Bottome (keine weiteren Informationen angegeben), der das Typusexemplar gesammelt hat; möglicherweise bezieht es sich auf Peter Bottome Deery (1937-2016), einen venezolanischen Geschäftsmann. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Südöstliche Karibik: Niederländische Antillenao), Venezuela (auf den westlichen vorgelagerten Inseln (Los Monjes und Los Roques) und entlang der zentralen Küste bei Falcon, Carabobo, Aragua und Vargas, offenbar nicht im Nordosten Venezuelas, d.h. nicht in Anzoátegui, Mochima oder weiter nach Osten. Weitere Fundorte: Vincent, St. Lucia, Martinique und Dominica. Ein einzelnes Individuum ist aus St. Croix (UF 160686) mit einem längeren ersten Rückenflossenstachel als erwartet und vielen Kopfflecken bekannt geworden, das diese Art darstellen könnte, es gibt jedoch keine DNA, die die Identifizierung bestätigt.
