Typusfundort: Vor der Mündung des Tugela Rivers, KwaZulu-Natal, Südafrika, südwestlicher Indian Ocean, 63 Faden [115 m] Tiefe.
Etymologie
Anguillare (= lat. für aalähnlich), bezieht sich auf die länglichere Form im Vergleich zu Dysomma bunocephalus. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Weit verbreitet im Indo-West-Pazifik und Atlantik. Im westlichen Atlantik ist sie vom Nordwesten der Bahamas, im Golf von Mexiko vom Südwesten Floridas entlang der Golfküste bis nach Veracruz (Mexiko), in der Karibik von Südkolumbien und entlang der Küste Südamerikas von Ostvenezuela bis nach Französisch Guyana bekannt. Im Indo-West-Pazifik ist sie entlang der Küste Ostafrikas von Sansibar, Tansania bis Natal, Südafrika, sowie um Taiwan bis nach Japan und den Philippinen bekannt.
