Etymologie
Nox (= Nacht); vagare (= umhergehen, d. h. Nachtwanderer), in Anspielung auf mutmaßliche nächtliche Gewohnheiten (die Typenserie wurde ausschließlich nachts gesammelt). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Brasilien und Kolumbien: Einzugsgebiete von Amazonas- und Orinoko.
