Etymologie
Etymologie nicht erklärt, vielleicht von acro- (= oberste) und lepis- (Schuppe), bezogen auf 7-8 Schuppenreihen über der Seitenlinie, oder von acer (= scharf), bezogen auf die groben Schuppen (obwohl dieses Merkmal nicht erwähnt wird). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Weit verbreitet im Nordpazifik von Japan bis Nordamerika, einschließlich der Ochotskischen und Beringsee sowie der Emperor Seeberge.
