Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Katherine Elliott Bemis (VIMS) um ihre freundliche Hilfe bei der Erstellung der Überschau der Autoren zu würdigen.
Verbreitung
Cheilopogon katherinae ist im Roten Meer endemisch, wo sie weit verbreitet ist und nach Norden bis nach Eylath (Eilat) vordringt. Diese Art wurde auch im westlichen Teil des Golfs von Aden gesammelt.
