Etymologie
Benannt nach der Typuslokalität, dem Rotn Meer.
Verbreitung
Cheilopogon marisrubri ist im Roten Meer endemisch, wo sie weit verbreitet ist, von Suez bis zur Bab el Mandeb-Straße und auch im Golf von Aden. Jungfische wurde nördlich von 20°N nicht gefunden.
