Etymologie
Benannt nach dem Bundesstaat Bahia, in dem sich die Typuslokalität befindet.
Verbreitung
Brasilien: von den Küstenbecken der Nordgruppe der nordöstlichen Ökoregion Mata Atlântica bis zu den Ökoregionen São Francisco und Parnaíba.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 15.08.2023:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Die größte Bedrohung für Characidium bahiense ist die Zersiedelung des gesamten Verbreitungsgebiets, die jedoch keine so große Gefahr darstellt, dass die Art in naher Zukunft vom Aussterben bedroht wäre.
