Typusfundort: Südwestlich der Azoren, nordöstlicher Atlantik, 32°06'N, 39°28'W (Karte).
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des dänischen Botanikers (und Begründers der Ökologie) Eugen Warming (1841-1924), der das Typusexemplar sammelte. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Zirkumglobal in tropischen und warm-gemäßigten Meeren, aber nicht im südöstlichen Pazifik; Atlantik: 35°N (östliche Grenze) und 42°N (westliche Grenze) südlich der Subtropischen Konvergenz. Pazifischer Ozean: tropische und subtropische Gewässer. Indischer Ozean: 20°N-45°S. Berichten zufolge im südlichen Afrika verbreitet. Südchinesisches Meer und Ostchinesisches Meer.

Status: Stand 1.03.2024:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt, und sie ist nicht dem Druck der Fischerei ausgesetzt.
