Typusfundort: Mosambik, Provinz Zambezia, vor dem Bezirk Pebane, 17°33'2"S, 38°27'1"E (Karte), 433 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Benannt nach Dr. Robin Leslie (Bereich Fischerei, Abteilung für Landwirtschaft, Forstwirtschaft und Fischerei in Südafrika), der einen großen Beitrag zur Kenntnis der südafrikanischen Knorpelfische geleistet hat und zahlreiche wichtige Exemplare und Gewebeproben für verschiedene Projekte zur Verfügung gestellt hat.
Verbreitung
Die Typus-Exemplare kamen aus dem Mosambik-Kanal (Madagaskar und Mosambik) sowie von vor Senegal, Elfenbeinküste, Äquatorialguinea und Togo in Tiefen von 340-500 m. Die BMNH- und ZMB-Exemplare wurden höchstwahrscheinlich von Anchieta aus Angola oder Mosambik im 19. Jahrhundert gesammelt. Weitere Exemplare von Munoz-Chapuli & Ramos (1989) untersucht, wurden aus Marokko, den Kanarischen Inseln und Ghana in Tiefen von 370-610 m gesammelt.
