Etymologie
Von erythros (= rot); oura (= Schwanz), beschreibt die Farbe der unteren Flossen bei einigen Erwachsenen genau, nicht jedoch den gelblichen Schwanz. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Nordamerika: Große Seen, Hudson Bay und Mississippi River Becken von New York in den USA und Ontario in Kanada bis nach North Dakota und im Süden bis nach Alabama und Oklahoma; isoliert im südwestlichen Mississippi; vom Potomac River in Maryland zum Roanoke River in North Carolina; Mobile Bay Abfluss.
