Etymologie
Carus (= Kopf), bezieht sich möglicherweise auf den "sehr schweren" Kopf von Caremitra simus und/oder auf die Benennung der Gattung Careproctus; mitra (= Brustlatz (nach den Autoren)), ein V-förmiges Stück eines dekorativen Stoffes, das über Brust und Bauch getragen wird, vielleicht als Hinweis auf die ventrale Saugscheibe von Caremitra simus, die fast so lang wie das Auge ist.
