Etymologie
Calo- (= schön); tomos (= schneidend), Anspielung nicht erklärt, möglicherweise Bezug nehmend auf "regelmäßig ineinandergreifende" Schneidezähne von Calotomus xenodon (= Calotomus carolinus), "in regelmäßigen Reihen in beiden Kiefern angeordnet". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
