Etymologie
Falx (= Sichel), bezieht sich auf den charakteristischen schmalen Balken an der Schwanzflossenbasis der Art.
Verbreitung
Marine Art, die derzeit nur aus Südjapan und Luzon (Philippinen) bekannt ist. In japanischen Gewässern wurde sie von den Inseln Hachijo (Izu-Inseln), Kashiwa-Inseln (Shikoku), Kakeroma- und Okinoerabu-Inseln (Amami-Inseln), Okinawa, Ie und Kume-Inseln (Okinawa-Inseln) sowie den Inseln Ishigaki und Yonaguni (Yaeyama-Inseln) in Tiefen von 12–22 m gesichtet.
