Etymologie
Etymologie nicht erklärt, vermutlich eine Verkleinerungsform von gadus (= Kabeljau), möglicherweise bezogen auf die geringe Größe (~10 cm) des einzelnen Exemplars von Gadella gracilis (= Gadella maraldi), das Lowe untersuchte. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
