Etymologie
Nummus (= lat. für eine Münze), Anspielung nicht erklärt, bezieht sich wahrscheinlich auf die runde (d.h. münzähnliche) Form des Körpers. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Oberes Amazonas-Einzugsgebiet (Kolumbien, Ecuador, Bolivien und Peru).
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 20.3.2024:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Insgesamt scheint es keine größeren Bedrohungen für die Art zu geben. Allerdings können Teilpopulationen lokal durch Habitatveränderungen und Umweltverschmutzung infolge von Landwirtschaft, Goldbergbau, Siedlungsabfällen und Abholzung beeinträchtigt werden.
