Typusfundort: Swannanoa River nähe Oteen, Buncombe County, North Carolina, U.S.A.
Etymologie
Benannt nach E. Milby Burton, ehemaliger bekannter Naturforscher am Charleston Museum, der die Typusexemplare gesammelt hat.

Östliche und zentrale USA.

Status: Stand 2.11.2017: NE VU Vulnerable (gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Diese Art wird wahrscheinlich durch Verschlammung, Trübung, chemische Verschmutzung und Aufstauungen beeinträchtigt. Warren et al. (2000) kategorisierten diese Art als "gefährdet". Jelkset al. (2008) bewerteten sie als "bedroht", basierend auf gegenwärtiger oder drohender Zerstörung, Veränderung oder Reduzierung von Lebensraum oder Verbreitung.
