Etymologie
Pilosus (= haarig oder flaumig); cornis (= Horn), bezieht sich auf fadenförmige Fransen über den Augen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Mittelmeer; Ostatlantik: südlicher Golf von Biskaya südlich bis Südafrika, einschließlich Madeira und Kanarische Inseln; westlicher Indischer Ozean: Südafrika, Iran; Südwestatlantik: Brasilien südlich bis Argentinien.
