Etymologie
Patronym ursprünglich nicht angegeben, aber eindeutig zu Ehren des Arztes und Naturforschers Thomas Caverhill Jerdon (1811-1872), der viele Fische aus Indien beschrieb, darunter Hypselobarbus gracilis. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indien: Derzeit bekannt aus dem Nethravathi River, seinem Zufluss Sishila River und des Aghanashini River, Karnataka und Eranchipuzha, Kerala.
IUCN Status
LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet) Mögliche Gefahren für diese Art: Die Art wird in einigen Teilen ihres Verbreitungsgebiets zum Verzehr gefischt, und auch das Vorhandensein exotischer Arten könnte sich auf ihr Überleben in Teilen ihres Verbreitungsgebiets auswirken. Das Vorhandensein von Dämmen ist auch eine wahrscheinliche Bedrohung für die Art. |
