Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Parasitologen Jules Guiart (1870-1965), Freund und "bedeutenden und ergebenen" (Übersetzung) Generalsekretärs der Zoologischen Gesellschaft Frankreichs. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Victoriasee, möglicherweise ausgestorben.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 13.09.2018: CR Critically Endangered (vom Aussterben bedroht)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Die Hauptbedrohung für diese Art ist die Erbeutung durch Nilbarsche (eine möglicherweise reversible Bedrohung). Sie ist auch potentiell gefährdet durch Hybridisierung aufgrund verminderter Wassertransparenz (aufgrund von Eutrophierung und Erosion, was zu verstärkter Sedimentation und Oberflächeneinschwemmung führt), was die visuellen Erkennungsmerkmale bei der Balz beeinträchtigt. Diese Art wird gefischt, obwohl dies nicht gezielt erfolgt. Sie wird als Köder für die Langleinenfischerei verwendet.
