Etymologie
Von grandis (= groß); cassis (= Helm), bezieht sich vermutlich auf die sehr große knöcherne Platte (Occipital Prozess) vor der Rückenflosse. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Rivers and estuaries from Gulf of Venezuela to mouth of Amazon River: Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela.
