Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Korechika Yano, Dive Service YANO (Iriomote Island, Japan), der diese Grundel entdeckte und unter Wasser fotografierte, der mehrere Exemplare und Informationen über den Lebensraum zur Verfügung stellte und dazu beitrug, die Unterscheidung von Ancistrogobius yoshigoui zu bestätigen. Verbreitung
Rotes Meer, Indo-Westpazifik: Indonesien östlich bis zu den Karolinen und Neuirland (Papua-Neuguinea), südlich bis zu den Salomonen.
