Typusfundort: Westlicher Indischer Ozean [ca. 360 Kilometer östlich von Mombasa, Kenia], 4°21'S, 42°56'E (Karte), 200 m Tiefe.

Verbreitung
Indopazifik: Südafrika und Arabisches Meer, östlich bis Mittelamerika, nördlich bis zum östlichen Chinesischen Meer, Philippinen und Hawaiianische Inseln, südlich bis Nordaustralien und Neuguinea.
