Etymologie
Ciliaris (= mit langen Peitschen), bezieht sich auf fadenförmige Rücken- und Bauchflossenstrahlen bei jungen Exemplaren (die mit dem Alter kürzer werden). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Zirkumglobal in tropischen Meeren (einschließlich Rotes Meer, Persischer Golf, Japanisches Meer).
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 25.1.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt. Sie wird manchmal von der kommerziellen Fischerei gefangen und gelegentlich für den Aquarienfischhandel gesammelt, doch gibt es derzeit keine Anzeichen für einen Bestandsrückgang.
