Typusfundort und -schicht: Eisenmine ElGedida, Oase Baharyia, Ägypten; Glaukonitischer Sandstein über der Eisenerzlagerstätte. Mittleres Eozän (wahrscheinlich Lutetium).
Etymologie
Benannt nach der Oase Bahariya im ägyptischen Western Desert.
