Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren und in in Erinnerung an Brian J. Axsmith, einen amerikanischen Paläobotaniker, Paläoökologen und Professor für Biologie an der der Universität von South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama, USA.

Unteres Oligozän (Rupelium): Alabama, USA.
