Paratypen: BSN 60-2, 3, 4, 7 und 11.
Typusfundort und Schicht: Siebert Tuff, Tonopah Sanddünen, Nye County, Nevada, in Gruben vom Straßenbau.
Etymologie
Diese Art ist nach dem verstorbenen Dr. Ira La Rivers benannt, der fossile und lebenden Fische des Großen Beckens studiert hat.
