Etymologie
Der Gattungsname ist eine Kombination von eos (= Morgendämmerung) und Serrasalmimus, in Bezug auf das frühe Auftreten des Taxons, das eng mit der Paleogen-Gattung Serrasalmimus verwandt ist.
