Typen
Holotypus: AM 5921 a & b; vollständige mediane Rückenplatte mit leicht verschobenen vorderen seitlichen Rückenplatten und hinteren seitlichen Rückenplatten, getrennte vordere Seitenplatte, teilweise exponierte Wirbelsäulenplatte und anteilige vordere seitliche Bauchplatte. Mit diesen Platten verbunden ist der Eindruck des Schwanzes und einzelne mediale Anal- und Rückenflossen.
Paratypen: AM 5920 a & b; komplette mittlere Rückenplatte im Teil und Gegenstück.
Typusfundortund Schicht: Witpoort Formation (Witteberg Gruppe, Cape Supergruppe), Waterloo Farm, Grahamstown, Südafrika. Spätes Famennium .
Etymologie
Benannt nach Edgar Donald Mountain, 2. Professor für Geologie an der Rhodes University.
