Etymologie

Anoplos (= unbewaffnet), bezieht sich auf das Fehlen von Stacheln auf dem Körper von Anoplocapros lenticularis; capros (= Wildschwein), bezieht sich möglicherweise auf „Meerschweinchen“, eine Redewendung, die im frühen 19. Jahrhundert auf mehrere Aracaniden- und Ostraciiden-Arten angewandt wurde, möglicherweise in Anspielung auf die Körperform bei Betrachtung von hinten. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
