Etymologie
Der Artname babarani ist eine Anerkennung für Prof. Ricardo P. Babaran von der University of the Philippines Visayas für seine großartigen Beiträge zu Untersuchungen der Autoren und anderer Mitarbeiter in Iloilo in den Jahren 2013–2017, als diese Art gesammelt wurde. Diese Untersuchungen ergaben den Leitfaden „Commercial and Bycatch Market Fishes of Panay Island, Republic of the Philippines“.
Verbreitung
Derzeit nur von der Insel Panay, Zentral-Philippinen, bekannt, wo die Art von Juli bis September auf den Fischmärkten der Insel reichlich angelandet wird.
