Typusfundort: Vor der Insel Sombrero, Westküste der Insel Luzon, 13°45'15"N, 120°46'30"E (Karte), Philippinen, Albatross-Station 5111, Tiefe 236 Faden.
Etymologie
Patronym nicht identifiziert, aber da der Name den auf den Philippinen vorkommenden S. philippinus ersetzt, wurde er wahrscheinlich zu Ehren des philippinischen Fischereibiologen Heraclio R. Montalban vergeben. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Indonesien östlich bis zu den Philippinen und Neuirland (Papua-Neuguinea), nördlich bis Taiwan und im Südchinesischen Meer, südlich bis Nordaustralien.
